One of the things that is real important about this project to Craig and Barbara is to generate some media publicity about My eBay Jobs Project so that I can find permanent employment. I really appreciate that A LOT.
They asked me to write a press release announcing the project and see if we could generate any more local or national media news interest. While I maintain a fairly extensive local media list for television, radio and print in the greater Puget Sound area, it's not all the time that I'm trying to get national media attention, so my national media list has needed some work - and I'm doing it all manually.
Back in the day, you could get press releases distributed to all media outlets just by mailing to the AP and UPI. Nowadays there are all sorts of media release services out there - but the good ones are very, very expensive to use. It takes a lot of effort, but it is worth my time to maintain my own media lists.
Back to the release itself - I kind of thought that Craig and Barbara would want to rewrite the release, but Craig just pointed out some typos and they both said it was good to go. I plan on sending it out first thing in the morning and see if we can get some help in publicizing what I was willing to do in an effort to find employment. I think I will start a media page here on the site where I can post links to different news stories that have appeared about My eBay Jobs Project.
If you have any comments or suggestions, I would love to hear them!
