Hannah Montana Kennedy Needs a Good Home!

DSC_0041

Even the greatest magicians find that smoke and mirrors only go so far.

Without any steady income over the past 4 years or so since I shut down my newspapers, smoke and mirrors were often all I had to work with.  Each month came with similar challenges, but it seemed like several times a month, miracles (usually in the form of

Not so sorry for me, but more for my daughter, the people I had been renting rooms to and the people I was unable to keep satisfied any longer.  I'm pretty sure that I'm taking it harder than any of there - but also know that once past this, things will get exponentially simpler and better for me personally.
help from family and/or friends) seemed to rescue me from the inevitable.  With a lot of help and the aforementioned smoke and mirrors, I fought the good fight for several years.  Last week I lost the battle - and my house.

Hannah Montana KennedyIn the meantime, we need to find a good home for Hannah Montana Kennedy, my daughter's 2 year old golden retriever.  Hannah is a really good girl who loves attention and doesn't have a mean bone in her body.  She has sometimes been confused by too many people trying to tell her what to do, but she knows how to sit, shake (lefty and righty) and lay down.  She loves belly rubs and is also one of the fastest dogs you'll ever see when she wants to chase a ball.

We paid a lot of money for Hannah as a pup.  She was supposed to be a purebred, but she doesn't have papers and is small for a golden retriever.  I tell people that she is a "miniature golden retriever".

It's heartbreaking for us to give her up, but neither of us has a place we can keep her any longer.  Jackie (my daughter) would love a situation where she could see Hannah on occasion, but has come to realize that nobody will really want to give Hannah up again once she is adopted into another home.

Hannah will come with a Large Breed Dog Crate, leashes and collars, and food and water dishes. Oh yeah, BTW Hannah also has a Facebook page and 15 followers!

If you or someone you know are interested in getting to know Hanna Montana Kennedy and would like to give her a good home, please give me a call at (425) 429-8590 or send email to JoeConnector(at)gmail.com.  Thank you!

Recommended Reading: Get Off Your "But" by Sean Stephenson

I recently got done reading a really, REALLY good book called Get Off Your "But": How to End Self-Sabotage and Stand Up for Yourself by Sean Stephenson.  I highly recommend it.  It is one of the top 10 books I have ever read and I'm so glad that I did - and know you will be too.

Sean StephensonI've really been wanting to writing a full review and book report on this book - as well as do a complete profile on Sean, who is a very inspirational man.

My challenge is that I am becoming very focused on the things I need to do to reach my goals - and at this point just cannot afford the time to write anything that will do the book or Mr. Stephenson complete justice.  I will leave it up to you to read the book - and do your research about Mr. Sean Stephenson and his amazing story.  Just make sure to do it!

Focused, Calm, Confident, Consistent and Smiling: Check Out the New Joe Connector

As you might know by now, I have been going through A LOT of personal changes over the past couple of months.  Certainly not the biggest change, but perhaps the most evident is the fact that I ended my final project as The Hair Farmer last week and had my last hair harvest for the benefit of Locks of Love and children with medical problems.  Not only do I look a whole lot different, I'm starting to feel and probably even act differently (although it still hasn't made me want to get back to wearing suits all the time).

I started getting real motivated to find a job again and have applied for about 100 of them in the past couple of weeks.  Humbling enough, I even applied to work at Target and WalMart - both places that employ A LOT of people.  It's pretty sad and depressing that neither of them have even responded to my applications.  Not sure if it's because I'm overqualified or have too many connections or too many recommendations on my profile at LinkedIn or what - but it is a real downer that I still have not been able to get ANYONE to even interview me - let alone hire me and give me a chance to work ...

How to Send Out Press Releases: Free Press Release Submission Websites

So you've finally decided to start sending out press releases, aka media releases, etc.  You've written your first media release and are now trying to figure out where to send it.  You could spend a lot of money and send it out through various paid channels - but even then success is not guaranteed.  You could start to build your own media list, which I fully advise and recommend, but it takes a lot of time and if you are a small business owner, yours is at a premium.  Another option is to blast them out to the masses via Free Press Release Submission websites.

Here is a partial list of some of the submission websites that I have sent media releases to with varying degrees of success:

1. http://www.npr.org/ - you are able to send a message or press release to any of the many shows on National Public Radio.

2. http://www.betanews.com - link to their contact form where you can submit news (or lodge a complaint)

3. http://www.directionsmag.com - you will first need to register and create an account for Directions Magazine, then you can login and post releases to: http://www.directionsmag.com/pressreleases/add/  According to their website, Your press release must be on topic to the Geospatial Technology Industry - but not sure if this is true or not .. it doesn't seem like they all are.

4. http://news.thomasnet.com/ This site has strict editorial criteria - they say they will only accept releases from OEMs (original equipment manufacturers).

5. http://www.prlog.org/ - you will need to register for a PR Log account before submitting a free press release and then you will have to verify your account by phone.  The process to sign up and submit can be a hassle, but can also be very beneficial.

Didn't get a change to finish this post, but if you have other suggestions or additions, I would love to hear them.

I'm Grateful For Sean Stephenson: He Says "You Got This"

Dr. Sean Stephenson is one of my all time heroes.  He is a man who truly lives life for all it is worth.  He has faced great personal challenges head on and each day is an inspiration to thousands.  I hope to get to meet him sometime soon, but in the mean time, I love watching his videos on YouTube - and am anxiously awaiting the arrival of his book entitled "Get Off Your 'But'".  I think you will enjoy this short film Sean made called "You Got This".  Very powerful.

Sean Stephenson has had a positive effect on many people's lives and is very well thought of.  His friend Anthony Robbins actually wrote the Forward to "Get Off Your 'But'".  You'll probably want to ready the book yourself and can buy it at Amazon.com.

Check Out the Color Mob 5K - Fun Event for All

Recently Clint Nelsen shared this presentation on Slideshare - the Color Mob 5K looks like a lot of fun - and they are going to be held all over the US and the world ...  Their motto is:  RUN.  DRINK.  EAT.  DANCE.  GET MESSY!

BTW - I'm pretty sure this is the same Clint Nelsen who is a Co-Founder of Startup Weekend, but I have not yet received confirmation on this.

The Pursuit of Happyness: If You Want Something, Go Get It. Period.

The Pursuit of HappynessOn last night's National Team Huddle Webinar for Solavei, Training Leader Extraordinaire and the Company's first Social Executive 3, Staci Wallace 'double dog dared' us all to watch the movie "Pursuit of Happyness" with Will Smith and his young son Jaden who did a great job in his movie debut.  I had already seen and enjoyed the film a couple of years ago, but since Staci recommended it - not to mention the double dog dare, I just had to watch it again and had my hands on a copy a couple of hours later.

Words Are Powerful, Thoughts Create Things: Positive Rock for the Ages is Born; Seattle Area Musicians Wanted

Joe The Connector Kennedy is a Positive RockerSince I started my personal journey blog at HowIQuitSmokingPot.com just over one week ago, there have been a lot of interesting things happening.  The blog has already evolved into a support site for a number of awesome people around the world and is no longer just about my journey.  I think that is really cool.

I have also started to create some healthier habits - including writing more, reading, actually watching entire movies and even singing into the PA system I bought for my 9 year old daughter Jacqueline Nataliya Kennedy a couple of years ago.

I've also started thinking a lot more.  A couple of ideas that are super true and important:  1) Words are important and 2) Thoughts become things.

In trying to learn the words to a few songs, I've come to realize that some (most?) of my favorite songs, some which I have listened to and sang along with (at least in my head) hundreds of times, are much less than positive and have not been helping me like I might think.

Stay with me here ....

My idea is to form a band of super positive and talented people and rewrite some existing famous tunes with totally positive slants. Once some of those are done, performed and recorded, it could be a really good platform to write, perform and record original positive songs.

It may seem even crazier, but I have already "been given" the title of the new genre of music (Positive Rock for the Ages) and name of the band (keeping this one under my hat for now).

While I would want to be heavily involved in the process and an opportunity to attempt to try performing (even with no talent) even if just once in awhile and as a back up singer with the mic turned off ;-0 - my highest and best use might be organizing and promoting the whole thing.  SO - I am now looking for local Seattle or Eastside musicians, singers and songwriters who are interested in collaborating on this type of project.  If you, or anyone you know are interested in discussing, please let me know!

BTW - if you are a musician of any experience, instrument, music genre or style, you are invited to join BandDating - the social network for musicians by musicians.

Common Bond Between Brad Pitt and Joe "The Connector" Kennedy

JK w green juice 070212Brad Pitt Quit Smoking PotWhat do Brad Pitt and Joe "The Connector" Kennedy have in common?  Well, besides their rugged good looks and great acting abilities?

No Joe Kennedy didn't kick Jennifer Anniston to the curb.  He hasn't had or adopted children with Angelina Jolie either.

But they have both stopped smoking pot.  According to a well publicized article at the UK Daily Mail almost a year ago, Pitt says he stopped smoking pot (and left Jennifer Anniston) because he almost "turned into a doughnut" while falling into a regular habit of getting heavily stoned with Anniston, the hot former star of the television program 'Friends'.

Joe Kennedy quit smoking pot just 15 days ago in his quest for ultimate health during training for his next big role.  You can read about his journey and stories from others around the globe at HowIQuitSmokingPot.com
